Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. This calendar summarizes financial aid process deadlines for students applying for financial aid to BSU for the fall 2021/spring 22 academic year.

October - December

  • Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2021-2022 FAFSA is available now.
  • Start checking your online To-Do list regularly because we may request additional information to complete your aid application.
  • Start your scholarship search.
  • The Financial Aid Office begins communicating with you through your BSU email account. Remember to check your junk and spam folders.

January - March

  • Maryland Residents, complete your FAFSA by March 1 for consideration of MHEC awards.
  • Continue checking your online To-Do list regularly because we may request additional information to complete your aid application. (embed what is verification video)
  • Awarding of financial aid begins.
  • Review and accept aid offers.
  • The Financial Aid Office continues communicating with you through your BSU email account. Remember to check your junk and spam folders.

April - May

  • Awarding of financial aid continues.
  • Summer School Financial Aid applications available.
  • Summer school financial aid award notifications sent out.
  • Continue to review and accept aid offers.
  • Continue to check your To-Do list via Bulldog Connection.
  • Graduating class with loans, complete exit counseling

June - September

  • Satisfactory Academic Progress status sent to all not meeting requirements.
  • Submit SAP appeals by the established deadline.
  • Approved appeals, complete academic plan.

  • School starts.
  • Disbursement process begins
