Vehicle capacity for BSU shuttles will be set to ensure appropriate distancing and in consultation with public health experts and regulatory guidance. This will be strictly enforced and it will be identified on each bus. Until further notice, the 55/57-passenger buses capacity is fifteen (15); 40-passenger capacity is ten (10) and 24-passenger capacity is seven (7). During determined peak hours, there will be two buses. Please arrive at least 5-minutes before planned departure of shuttle bus. With limited seating, riders may have to wait for the next bus, please plan accordingly.
BSU charters/shuttles are cleaned before and after each driver shift using CDC-approved cleaning products. Drivers also will clean high-touch points several times per shift using Electrostatic Fogging Units, Lysol®, or Clorox® approved disinfectant wipes. Note: Door opening and closing is controlled by the operator in all vehicles.
Avoid touching surfaces
- Limit touching frequently touched surfaces such as handles, windows, door frames and restroom surfaces as much as possible.
- If you must touch these surfaces, as soon as you can, wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water or rub your hands with sanitizer containing 60% alcohol.
Practice social distancing
- When possible, consider traveling during non-peak hours when there are likely to be fewer people.
- Follow social distancing guidelines by staying at least 6-feet (2 meters) from people. For example:
- Avoid standing, gathering in groups, and stay out of crowded spaces when possible, especially at shuttle pickup stations and stops.
- Some rows of seats between riders will be skipped where possible.
- Enter and disembark buses while maintaining at least 6-feet from people.
- Look for social distancing instructions or physical guides offered by shuttle authorities (for example, floor decals or signs indicating where to stand or sit to remain at least 6-feet apart from others).
Improve ventilation
- The driver will improve the ventilation on the bus if possible by setting the air ventilation/air conditioning on non-recirculation mode.
Clean and disinfect surfaces
- Touched surfaces on buses will be cleaned and disinfected frequently using disinfecting wipes and fogging units if available before/after each shift and throughout the day.
Precautions & Requirements
- Passengers and drivers must wear a face covering that covers their nose and mouth while on board.
- The driver will wear gloves and a full face shield over and cloth face covering when assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking.
- Stay behind the barrier at the front of the bus that separates the driver compartment from passenger seating.
- Please direct your questions to customer service at 301-860-4215 (DOT), rather than the driver. While our drivers enjoy interacting with passengers, this important measure limits exposure between those on board and facilitates physical distancing.
- Stay home if you feel sick.
