Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Only essential personnel and residential students are permitted access to the campus on Jan. 28. For more information, please visit BowieState.edu/weather.

Financial Aid Revisions

Circumstances may require that a student's aid package be revised in the following cases:

  • Change in enrollment Students packaged early for financial aid are done so on a full-time estimate. Adjustments may be necessary if the student actually enrolls for fewer courses than originally projected.
  • Withdrawal from school Students contemplating dropping classes should make an appointment to see a financial aid counselor. The current semester's aid as well as future aid may be jeopardized.
  • Receipt of other financial aid This includes aid not awarded through the Office of Financial Aid, including institutional, state, and private donor scholarships, remitted tuition, graduate assistantships, and other aid that we become aware of after the student has been awarded.
  • Change in residency status Students who are granted in-state residency after they receive an award based on out-of-state residence will receive a budget adjustment, which reflects the in-state charges for tuition and fees. This may require an adjustment to aid awarded and/or received. In such cases, funds may be returned to the appropriate financial aid programs to prevent an overaward.
  • Federal verification process Students who are selected for verification will need to submit federal taxes, W2s, and additional forms to the BSU Office of Financial Aid. This information may require changes be made to the original FAFSA information.

The University reserves the right to change award packages at any time due to the receipt of additional information, verification, academic progress issues or human error.
