Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Only essential personnel and residential students are permitted access to the campus on Jan. 28. For more information, please visit BowieState.edu/weather.

MIS Club

The MIS club of Bowie State University was founded by the department and a group of business students in fall 1994. The club now in its 24+ years of operation has been one of the most active and successful student-led clubs on campus. Throughout its history the club has invited numerous speakers locally; from around the states and even one international speaker .

The club is open to all BSU students, who are interested in information systems, and  has been very successful in creating a network among the students and professionals in the field. Many students have been offered jobs through the network created by the club. The club has also conducted a couple of successful fundraising and many social events.

We have former and current members working for major public and private organizations; they include International Software Systems, Inc., IBM, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Federal and State Agencies.

Since 1994 the MIS Club has continued to provide activities related to the fields of Information Systems.
