Due to inclement weather, Bowie State University will be closed January 26-27, 2026. All classes, office operations and on-campus activities are canceled. Residence halls will remain open.   2. Identify and articulate dominant literary themes/genres of the periods covered.
  3. Show working knowledge of major authors/works from its beginnings through mid-19th century
  4. Shows working knowledge of literature through the modern period.
  5. Synthesize ideas by clear, succinct, oral/written expression.
  6. Apply key literary terms/analytical techniques to works covered and other literary works.
  7. Independently interpret literature in/of itself and its wider implications.
  8. Research literary topics using electronic and traditional methods.
  9. Understand basic literary themes, techniques, and terminology.
  10. Appreciate cultural pluralism through investigation of literature of cultural/ historical “other”.
