Storytelling is the universal gateway to meaningful connections. Whether it is through social media, community activism, education, filmmaking, producing video games, or entrepreneurship, a good storyteller can shape the way we think, feel and behave. At Bowie State, our experienced faculty give students the tools to dissect and understand diverse narratives and to create stories of their own.

As an English major, you will study compelling literature and explore new languages and cultures. You will also:
- Become a critical reader and writer able to analyze and interpret information in a wide range of contexts
- Understand how language is used to persuade, dissuade, and shape perspectives
- Explore different cultures through the lens of literature, language and film
- Learn how to teach English to others
