Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Only essential personnel and residential students are permitted access to the campus on Jan. 28. For more information, please visit BowieState.edu/weather.

(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University launches the public phase of its largest ever comprehensive fundraising campaign this evening at 6 p.m. with a three-location live and virtual event hosted in Baltimore, National Harbor and on the campus in Bowie, Md. BSU BOLD: The Campaign for Excellence seeks to raise $50 million by Dec. 31, 2025.

Invited guests will gather at the Baltimore Center Club overlooking the Camden Yard – Ravens Stadium complex that will be illuminated in Bowie State black and gold celebrating the campaign and BSU’s founding in Baltimore in 1865.  Additionally, the Hyatt National Harbor will host special guests overlooking the black and gold illuminated Harbor Wheel. Friends and supporters in the public are invited to join in the celebration virtually at bowiestate.edu/campaign-for-excellence.

Rocsi Diaz, host of Fox Television’s Alter Ego, and a current Bowie State student, will MC the main event in the Fine and Performing Arts Center on campus. The program will highlight some of the lead donors like BGE, Penn National Gaming and Adobe whose contributions during the silent phase of the campaign have laid the foundation for its ultimate success.

Local, national and international corporations and foundations have stepped up to invest in Bowie State, preparing students to become the next generation of leaders.  The celebrations will highlight the impact that the lead gifts are already having with new scholarships, technology and academic support, and experiential opportunities for BSU students.  Several key donors will be live on site at each celebration location to amplify the importance of their commitments.
