Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Web Editors

As the Web Editor for your unit’s section of the Bowie State University website, you are part of a network of 80-plus staff and faculty from offices and departments throughout the university who are responsible for maintaining the content of the university’s website. We in the Office of University Relations and Marketing are pleased to work with you to coordinate and support your efforts.

Your contribution as web editors is vital to attracting and retaining students. Our website is often the first place potential students and their parents visit to get acquainted with the university, and it is also an important resource for current students, faculty, and staff. During the school year usage on our website can reach 22,000 sessions a day.

In the coming months the we will be formalizing the BSU Web Editors group to offer training sessions to update skills and share developments relating to the website. We look forward to scheduling quarterly gatherings where you can share ideas and concerns, learn from each other's experiences, and hear from experts in web content, marketing, and public relations.
