Jan. 28 Transition to Virtual Operations, Campus Closed

Bowie State University will be transitioning to virtual operations for all classes and office operations on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Only essential personnel and residential students are permitted access to the campus on Jan. 28. For more information, please visit BowieState.edu/weather.

Advising for Winter & Spring 2026

Continuing Students

Face-to-face and virtual academic advising is available on a drop-in and appointment basis. To participate in online advising, students may log onto our Virtual Advising Room to receive immediate assistance during scheduled hours. If you prefer to schedule an appointment, log onto Starfish, select, your advisor and follow the appointment prompt.

Please note that undergraduate students must meet with their Academic Advisor each semester prior to registering for classes. Our Academic Advisor Directory will help you identify your assigned advisor. Log onto Starfish to make an advising appointment.

New Students Starting Spring 2026

Newly admitted students must receive academic advising clearance from Enrollment Management prior to meeting with an advisor. After students are cleared, an academic advisor will reach out to schedule an appointment.

Registering for Classes

Registration for winter and spring 2026 classes will open Monday, October 27. We encourage you to register for classes immediately after meeting with your academic advisor. Please make sure you are advised and ready to register!
