Become a Mental Health Leader in Your School
The Ujima Center for School Counseling program trains you to become a responsive school-based mental health counselor who demonstrates evidence-based and sustainable practices. You will work with students from nearby school systems and learn to be sensitive to their needs. At Bowie State University, you will develop evidence-based counseling techniques that teach you to better serve underrepresented school systems.

As a counseling graduate, you will:
- Be prepared to work with students across all school levels (PreK-12).
- Develop, implement, and evaluate data-driven school counseling programs for all students.
- Understand individuals through a multicultural global perspective while incorporating their economic, psychological, and social differences.
- Uphold ethical and legal standards, while respecting all individuals.
- Utilize technology and research to enhance awareness of educational, career, emotional, social, cultural, psychological/cognitive, and physical development.
